Books I'd recommend 📚

I recently was asked to make some book recommendations. I'm unsure if this person meant my books or general recommendations, so I did both.

As for my books, I always recommend that people visit my website, check out my book covers, read the synopsis, and even jump on Amazon for a FREE sample. I'm not comfortable recommending my books because reading is a personal experience and it's always hard to predict what people want in a book.

As for my go-to authors over the years, off the top of my head, VC Andrews, Kristin Hannah, and Lisa Genova. I mention all three ladies in my video (see below) but I forgot to mention another important one, George Orwell. Unfortunately, it's hard to say if that falls under fiction or non-fiction anymore. I love all these authors because they make me think. I love authors that leave me something to ponder, which is also what I hope to do with my own writing.

Regarding non-fiction and more specifically, books I've read recently, one of my favorites is, A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success by Maye Musk. She's a smart, elegant lady with an honest approach to presenting life advice while sharing her story. Another would be Jordan Peterson's book, 12 Rules For Life (which I stupidly called 18 Rules For Life in my video below 🤦🏼‍♀️) As with Musk's book, Peterson's advice is practical, sensible, and in this day and age, a great guideline for readers. Like most books, you can take or leave the advice presented to you, but both authors have a lot of wisdom to share.

Of course, as I stated in the video, I've read many great authors over the years, including many independent authors. I love discovering new books and this list is not a complete one. If you want to see some of the books I've read over the years, check out my Goodreads profile and if you friend me, I will add you back.

What are some books you recommend? Are you an author? Let me know and if you wish, I can share your books on my X account.

Scary Halloween reading for October 2024 🎃

Good morning and happy weekend, my friend. 🍁

There's a chill in the air as we enter the month of October. 🎃 Life is slowing down after a busy summer, and it's a great time to curl up with a book and take some time for yourself. Of course, if you're crazy like me, you probably already started your Christmas shopping, but we won't talk about that today. 🤭

I wanted to give you a quick update from here. I'm thinking about starting a new book, but that's something I will discuss more in the future.

Meanwhile, here are the latest video!

Have you got your fall reading yet??? 🍁 September 2024

I'm always kind of excited to see what the internet has to say about my books. As you can see from this is the summary of my latest book, Everybody Wants to Rule the World that I've shared with you.  I assume it's from AI, but hey, it's fun to read.

So, have you picked out your fall reading yet? Why not check out my books and see if anything captures your attention? Learn about the books HERE and check them out on Amazon to read a FREE sample.

One last thing. Check out my latest video/blog. I only recorded one this month because I've been busy adding the complete catalog to Tiktok.

My books are more dark comedy than gory 😳

In fairness, I understand why people might think my books are gory. Not to suggest they lack in murder, but I don't feel the need to get into the gross details. To some, that might be a turnoff because they might pick up my books with expectations of gore. For others, it might discourage people from attempting to read my books because they could assume my Hernandez series is too gory.

As strange as it may sound, my books are more of a dark comedy, than anything else. Sure, there's crime, corruption, and murder, but there's a lot of (probably) inappropriate jokes and comments along the way. In today's ultra sensitive world, that might be an issue for some, but I don't care because I don't tend to write with many people's feelings in mind. The language is rough.

People regularly ask if my Hernandez series is gory, so I felt it was a good time to clear the air on this issue. Of course, I always suggest anyone even slightly interested should go online and read a free sample of a book to decide for themselves.

Summer isn't over yet! Grab a book and go outside for a relaxing afternoon in the sun. ☀️

Summer isn't over yet! Grab a book and go outside for a relaxing afternoon in the sun. ☀️

If you don't have a great book, I still have a few copies of my FREE ebook (pdf file) to give away. Just reply to this message or get in contact with me through social media. You can find me on all the big platforms @mimaonfire - Wondering what book I'm talking about?

Check out the Amazon link to read a FREE sample and of course, if you'd rather a paperback version, you can order a copy on the site or whatever retailer you prefer. If you want to buy it from a local bookstore, ask the manager to order it to be picked up at the store and of course, you can always suggest it as a purchase to the closest library. In fact, this would be a terrific option because it would give more people the opportunity to discover my book. And remember, you don't have to read the entire series to enjoy the book.

I have a couple new blogs and videos to share.

Gangsters, villains, and vigilantes....and my Hernandez series 🔪

If you know anything about my Hernandez series, you probably don't have to be told that it's full of criminals, villains, gangsters, and vigilantes. And if you need to get more familiar with my series, those words could send a strong message about what you're in for if you pick up one of my books.

As I point out in the video below, people love these characters. Some of the most popular televisions have featured or centered on characters that played more the role of an anti-hero than the more traditional hero. We have to ask ourselves why they're so appealing and why at this time in history? Learn more below.

Why I no longer bug the shit out of people for reviews (and what is way easier...)

I once wrote a blog called, Why do authors bug the shit out of you for a review, where I discussed the importance of writing book reviews. I always felt like asking people to write book reviews was like a teacher instructing them to write a major essay to pass a class. It felt like a lot. And in fairness, I know people don't have time.

These days I no longer ask for book reviews. Besides not feeling comfortable asking, I think there's a much easier way to get positive attention to my book with someone simply sharing my book on social media. The ideal and easiest way to help is to take a picture of themselves with my book and share it online. It takes a second and is done.

Any good attention is helpful. To learn more about this topic, check out my video:
